Weird Weddings
Every once in a while it’s good to look at how weird weddings can get. It makes you feel more…normal.
That’s what I’m in the mood for today. Let’s dish up some weird weddings, shall we?
In wedding news…
Jiang Dezhang and Tie Guangju, who both worked as high-rise window washers in China, got married suspended by ropes and pulleys. “It was both romantic and like our daily work,” he said. As the couple exchanged rings, a scroll reading, “High Altitude Love” unfolded down the building.
Huh?
When my husband and I work together as DJs, we joke that it’s work and date night all-in-one. But this is a little extreme…even for me.
Here’s the story of a bride who bailed on her wedding…to take a final exam. On May 5th, 2008 an Indian bride bolted from the temple in the middle of her wedding ceremony in order to take her final exam. Apparently the exam had been rescheduled. The groom waited patiently outside.
Talk about taking school seriously. That would never happen in the US; we’d be suing for mental duress.
Or how about this bungee jumping exchange of vows. Earlier this month, this UK couple said their vows, kissed, and bungee jumped off a platform 150 feet in the air. This was the first couple to “take the plunge” with Marriage in the Sky, a Belgian company who offers bungee jumping marriage packages.
Yeah. Till death do us part is right.
What’s the weirdest wedding you’ve ever heard of? Leave me a comment.
